FSL HOSTS FEMALE SPEECH COMPETITION
Female Solidarity Legacy (FSL) is an after-school program that focuses on women’s empowerment in the Village. It is managed and run by ASYV students that are passionate about women’s rights, and they engage in weekly meetings to discuss current issues and provide a support system for all of our female students.
During the month of September, FSL led a speech competition across the Village to encourage girl’s confidence and skills in public speaking. There were three rounds of competitions, at the family and grade level, and a final round where the victors contended for first place.
A huge round of applause goes to all the participants for their thoughtful speeches and bravery on the stage.
Ornella, a bright and energetic S5 student, received first place for her incredible speech titled “Will I Be a Legend?” Her speech examined the path to success by encouraging students to ask themselves what their dreams and ambitions are, and then to ask themselves what they are doing in order to make those dreams a reality.
“Whenever I participate in an opportunity like this, I gain something. The next time that I must speak in front of a crowd, I will know that I was able to do it before, so I can do it again. To know you are great you have to first convince yourself by doing great things, even if it is scary,”
