Agahozo-Shalom was bustling with activity on September 4th as ASYV graduates and esteemed organizations streamed into the Village for Alumni & Career Day! The day began with ASYV’s very first Alumni Association Meeting and then went on to host a Career Fair. 

Since ASYV’s humble beginnings in 2008, we have since had three classes graduate, equipped with the skills and confidence necessary to embark into adulthood. While the “program” at Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village lasts four years, it does not only mimic a home-environment, but it genuinely becomes our student’s homes. The relationships that are formed, the lessons that are taught, and the family that is built last a lifetime. 

This is why the ASYV is incredibly excited to have formed an official Alumni Association, where our graduates can maintain relationships and the support system that they fostered while at Agahozo-Shalom. Additionally, this league is a great resource for the Village and our Monitoring & Evaluation department, as we can continue gathering feedback and data to ensure that we are adapting the delivery of our programs in the Village to meet the changing needs of our students. 

After a morning filled with hugs, laughter, and group discussion, the Career Fair was launched! Over twenty incredible companies came to the Village to support the Career Fair and share information about their organizations/companies. From a local shop owner, to revered Universities and inspirational entrepreneurs, the Career Fair was filled with a diverse group of experts willing to share their story and advice with our students. 

The ASYV wants to send a huge THANK YOU to our graduates for their continued support to our current students and to Agahozo-Shalom.
