ASYV Alumni and the Go Far Soccer Team
Last month, the Go Far Soccer Team, a new initiative of the ASYV alumni association, came together for Umuganda (monthly community service) in Musanze, Rwanda. Our graduates visited the Muhabura Integrated Polytechnic College, where they joined the Institute’s students in various acts of community service. Projects included bush-clearing and garbage pick-up. Eager to pay their learning forward, our graduates also took this opportunity to discuss Agahozo-Shalom’s commitment to community service as part of our core values.
Once Umuganda was complete, our graduates and the Institute’s students had fun and strengthened their newfound sense of camaraderie by playing a friendly soccer match. When the Go Far Soccer Team won 1- 0, Muhabura’s students saw how connected each of our alumni were and expressed their respect for our graduates’ organization and teamwork. Moving forward, the ASYV alumni association plans to send the Go Far Soccer Team to different youth institutions across the country in order to share best practices and learn from each other. Part of a growing number of networking and learning opportunities for our graduates, the Go Far Soccer Team is a great step forward for Agahozo-Shalom’s alumni association.
