Raising positive changemakers

The Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village changes more than our students' lives. Our impact goes beyond the Village’s gates as we help young people acquire the skills and confidence they need to change the world, in ways big and small.

Understanding the need

I grew up in Kigali with 4 siblings. We lived with my aunt because both my parents died. Before ASYV, I had to study very hard because I could not attend school unless I got a scholarship. At ASYV, I have the confidence that I can achieve anything. When I graduate, I want to be a professional Sign Language translator.
— Noella, ASYV Class of 2021

During our extensive recruitment process, we assess the vulnerabilities of each potential student.

ASYV is changing lives that would not have otherwise had the opportunity to be changed. And we graduates are helping change the country. I work at the Bank of Kigali. Long term, I want to do for others what was done for me. I want to help the disadvantaged become advantaged.
