ISRAEL PAYS RESPECT TO ASYV FOUNDER, ANNE HEYMAN

The State of Israel paid their respects to Agahozo-Shalom (ASYV) beloved Founder Anne Heyman on 4 January 2014 at a private event held at the Shimon Peres Center for Peace, and just as Anne would have wanted, the entire service was in Hebrew. There was music, art, and beautiful speeches about Anne and her contributions to the world – as a mother, wife, sister, philanthropist, and humanitarian. Chaim Peri, Director of the Yemin Orde Youth Village, Agahozo-Shalom Board member and Memorial organizer Gideon Hersher, Seth Merrin (Anne’s widower) and Yoni Merrin (Anne’s youngest son) spoke candidly about Anne. Adding to the Memorial was a moving speech by ASYV graduate Emmanuel.

Agahozo-Shalom Board Chair Laurie Franz said of the event, “Honestly I don’t think I can put words to the emotion, and I know I won’t do it justice.  I feel incredibly fortunate to have been included in such an intimate and meaningful remembrance. And I know having this event in Israel is just where it should be- the lovely Israeli’s who came needed to say goodbye and celebrate too.”

Following the Memorial, attendees traveled to Yemin Orde, which served as a model during the conceptual design of Agahozo-Shalom, and then proceeded on to Goren Park where a scenic overlook was named for Anne in honor of her humanitarian efforts in Israel.  Anne Heyman, beloved mother, wife, daughter, friend, philanthropist, visionary, Agahozo-Shalom Founder and great humanitarian.  Anne's spirit and legacy lives on and lives strong.
